FAQs

If you have additional questions, you can email us at our wedding email address: kelleyandkenny@gmail.com or text us personally!

Q: Why Portugal?

A: If you know Kelley, she loves to tell you about Portugal and her dad’s family being from there. Kelley and Kenny love to travel and explore new places together, so a destination wedding only seemed fitting!

Getting married in Sintra specifically, is a way to honor Kelley’s grandparents that passed away and say goodbye to her last name. Kelley’s family name was originally spelled with an S, like the city, but there was a misspelling on her grandfather’s paperwork a long time ago.

Q: How do I RSVP?

A: You may RSVP below or through your mail-in RSVP card that came alongside the formal invitation. Please RSVP by June 1

Q: When should I book my flight?

A: Please book flights ASAP!

TAP Air Portugal has direct flights into Lisbon from both JFK and Newark daily. Other carriers that fly non-stop from NYC are Air France, KLM, Delta, Lufthansa, United and Brussels Airlines.

If booked in advance, the cost of a non-stop round-trip flight is $400-600 in September. The sooner you book, the more likely this is to be true! Use the app HOPPER to track flight prices for specific dates. We usually also check the following sites - Kayak, Skyscanner and Google Flight Matrix for the best deals.

Q:Where do I stay?

A: Please look at the “Stay” tab for recommendations and hotel blocks. We will have shuttles provided from a meeting point in Sintra and in Lisbon for all guests traveling to the Welcome Party and Wedding Day.

Wedding Party and Family traveling to Portugal are staying at the wedding venue, Tivoli Palacio de Seteais September 23rd and 24th. Kelley and Kenny will be arriving in Portugal Wednesday, September 21st.

Q:Do I need a passport?

A: Yes, you will need your passport for this trip! Please make sure all your documents are updated. Especially because of the pandemic, passports are delayed, don't wait until the last minute!

Q: What are the Covid restrictions?

A: We will be requiring all guests to be up to date with their vaccinations and boosters to attend. If you or your plus one are not vaccinated please let us know.

Portugal is open for travel for Vaccinated Americans without additional testing. 91.6% of the Portuguese population is vaccinated. To make sure all are comfortable, our ceremony, cocktail hour and majority of our reception will be outdoors. We are monitoring the news and staying up to date on all restrictions.

It is no longer required to present proof of vaccination or negative test to enter Portuguese bars and clubs, eat indoors at Portuguese restaurants, visit tourist establishments, stay at local accommodation or attend events. Face masks are mandatory on public transport.

Q:What is the weather like?

A: September is rated the BEST month to visit Portugal. The average temperature in Lisbon is 80°F / 63°F. Since Sintra is in the mountains, it is usually 5 degrees colder with a slight breeze. Weather in Portugal is comparable to California summers— sunny, dry heat but temperatures can drop at night to mid- 60’s.  Make sure you bring a cardigan for the nighttime cool air. Wedding Reception will be tented outside and with heaters.

Q:Will there be any other events to attend during the wedding weekend?

A: The evening of Friday, September 23rd will be Welcome Drinks in Lisbon - which is optional but please RSVP. Saturday, September 24th is the wedding day that will last all night. We also will be hosting a casual event on Sunday after the wedding in Lisbon with updates to come closer to the wedding.
